Pirate Pete
Childrens and family musical comedy pirate entertainer, Pirate Pete celebrates 30 years of pirating in 2019.
He first appeared as a roving minstrel in September, 1989 at the opening of Underwater World on the Sunshine Coast of Queensland, Australia.
Since then he has performed in various formats and venues ranging from roving minstrel and public relations character in Shopping Centres, Flea and Craft Markets, Corporate Functions, Festivals, Agricultural Shows — to Pirate birthday party entertainer (with more than 450 parties to his credit) and most recently shows at Schools, Preschools and Kindergartens from Cooktown in northern Qld to Swan Hill in West Victoria entertaining large and small groups of children and families with Pirate Games and music.
In earlier days you could find Pirate Pete with his feathered mate Charlie the Cockatoo busking on street corners and shopping malls (notably the Queen St Mall in Brisbane, Circular Quay in Sydney and the Central Mall in Coffs Harbour) or anywhere there was people passing.
Since 2001 Pirate Pete has been touring Schools, Kindergartens, Preschools and Childrens Centres performing to thousands of four to eight year old children, their siblings, parents, extended family, teachers and members of the community with around 250-275 shows each year for a career total approaching 5,000 shows.
The Pirate has entertained at the National Maritime Museum, Darling Harbour in Sydney and resorts such as the Coolum Hyatt (now closed) where Pirate Pete was a regular performer in the Kookaburra Club for ten years between 1990 and 2000.
In 2000 the Pirate completed a successful 14 performance engagement at the White Sands Shopping Mall in Pasir Ris, Singapore.
Pirate Pete appeared regularly at the weekly North Pine Country Market on the northern outskirts of Brisbane for more than seven years during the 1990s.
He has provided the entertainment at more than 450 private birthday parties.
He has performed at Community Festivals and Country Agricultural Shows across NSW and Qld and compered the Childrens Folk Festival at Maleny Folk Festival (now known as Woodford Festival)on several occasions.
Pirate Pete has has built a reputation from Cooktown in the north of Queensland to Swan Hill in the west of Victoria fer bringing a very fun time with him wherever he travels.
